Hunter Pyle Law is proud to support the Center for Workers’ Rights, which honored Assemblymember Liz Ortega, Caitlin Vega of the California Labor Federation, and one of its own worker leaders, Iedalia Martinez, at its 11th Annual Celebration Honoring Champions for Workers on October 7, 2025.

The focus of the Center for Workers’ Rights efforts is to embolden workers to gain knowledge about their workplace rights, how to fight for them, and most importantly stand up when they are being dismissed, ignored, or invalidated.

Liz Ortega represents Assembly District 20, which includes Hayward, San Leandro, most of Union City, portions of Dublin and Pleasanton, and the unincorporated communities of Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview, and San Lorenzo. A longtime labor and community leader, Assemblymember Ortega has spent 20 years advocating for working families and healthy and safe communities across California.

And Caitlin Vega is the General Counsel of the California Federation of Labor. Among her achievements, she helped to pass the landmark law AB 5 in 2019, codifying the “ABC test” of employment status. She also worked on laws to impose joint liability on companies that use temporary and contract labor, expand whistleblower protection, and penalize companies that use immigration-related threats to deter workers from enforcing their rights.
